Arturo D. Salinas
Arturo De La Rosa Salinas, 88, of Uvalde died on March 5, 2018, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral mass will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1929, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to Antonia De La Rosa and Arturo Salinas.
He married Josefina Ortiz on Oct. 4, 1961, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
Salinas is survived by two daughters, Josefina Castillo and husband, Pablo, of Uvalde and San Juanita Galarza of Harvard, Illinois; three sons, Arturo O. Salinas Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Bayview, Miguel Salinas and wife, Cindy, of Uvalde and Salvador Salinas and wife, Noelia, of Dunlay; three sisters, Maria De Jesus Garza of Harvard, Illinois, Maria Esther Castellon and husband, Evaristo, of Uvalde, and Rosa Maria De Guajardo of San Buena Aventura, Coahuila, Mexico; one brother, Margarito De La Rosa of Piedras Negras; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one granddaughter, Michelle Salinas; newborn great-grandson; one sister, Manuela De Gomez; and one brother, Miguel Salinas.
A rosary was recited on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and again yesterday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
Pallbearers will be Arturo O. Salinas, Miguel Salinas, Salvador Salinas, Paul Castillo, Librado Padilla and Alejandro Castellon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Salinas, Paul Michael Castillo, Arturo Salinas III and Felipe Galarza III.
