Annie A. Capps

Annie Allen Capps, 88, of Sabinal died on Nov. 8, 2019, in Knippa.

A memorial service will be held on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. at Life Church, 616 W. Antonio St.

She was born in Seguin on Feb. 12, 1931, to Maude (Gates) and Marshall Burris.

Capps worked as a cook for various restaurants around the area. According to the family, she enjoyed cooking for and serving others, reading her Bible, doing puzzles and playing Yahtzee.

She was often referred to as “Mawmaw,” and the family says she never met a stranger and always made sure to share a funny story with everyone. She attended Life Church in Uvalde in her mission to serve God.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Capps of Sabinal; daughter, Rosemary Bailey of Knippa; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; son, Lee Roy Voelcker; daughter, Charlene Petty; four brothers, Cleburne Burris, Durwood Burris, Orace Burris, and Marshall Burris Jr.; and two sisters, Margie Sanders and Marion Burris.
