Anne B. Kleckner

Anne Woods Baylor Kleckner, 85, of Granbury, formerly of Montell, died Jan. 15, 2018, in Granbury.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1932, in Carrizo Springs to Blanche (Woods) and Tom Perry Baylor.

She married William Howard Kleckner on June 1, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Virginia Blanche Baylor Malik.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Howard Kleckner of Spring and Stephen Wayne Kleckner of Fort Worth; one daughter, Susannah Lynn Maher of Tolar; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kleckner and her sister were raised on the Ojo Ranch near Durango, Mexico, where they learned to herd and work black Angus cattle. She graduated from St. John’s Hospital’s nursing school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she met her husband, a petroleum engineer at Tulsa University.

She traveled the world with her husband – living in Australia, France, Indonesia, Libya, Spain, Nigeria, Scotland and Iran  – and familiarized her children with the American bus lines in keeping the Baylor family connected. The couple settled in Carrollton, and later in Montell, where her father and his four brothers were reared.

A funeral service was held for family and friends on Jan. 22, 2018, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Camp Wood, and Kleckner was interred with her husband’s ashes in Montell-Laguna Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Martin’s Funeral Home in Granbury and Nelson Funeral Homes in Montell.
