Anita P. Hernandez, 96, of Uvalde died on April 9, 2017, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on July 31, 1920, in Del Rio to Maria (Gallardo) and Jose Angel Perez.

She married Braulio S. Hernandez on Sept. 18, 1937, in Uvalde.

She is survived by five granddaughters, Gricelda Salinas Zamora and husband, Gilbert, and Yvette Alejandro and husband, Danny, all of Uvalde, and Emeline Moreno and husband, Steve, Elaine Hernandez, and Esther Flores and husband, Frank, all of San Antonio; two grandsons, Ricky Ruiz Jr, and wife, Lisa, of Uvalde, and Homer Hernandez of San Antonio; 15 great-grandchildren, Olga Salinas-Flores, Jay Salinas, Crystal Alejandro Jimenez, Daniel Alejandro Jr., Erik Alejandro, Elma Ruiz, Ricky Ruiz III, Valerie Hernandez, Veronica Hernandez, Mark Herrera, Amanda Dominguez, Adriana Aguirre, Andrew Aguilera, Angelica Flores and Javi Flores; 11 great-great-grandchildren, Krystalynn Alejandro, Saralynn Alejandro, Gabriella Jimenez, Noah Gonzales, Damian Aguirre, Adrian Aguirre, Destiny Dominguez, Anthony Dominguez, Noah Herrera, Elijah Herrera, Johnny Gonzales; one daughter-in-law, Sulema Hernandez of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Eluterio Hernandez; and two daughters, Olga Hernandez and Elma Ruiz.

A rosary was recited on Monday and again on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held yesterday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Homer Hernandez, Ricky Ruiz Jr., Ricky Ruiz III, Daniel Alejandro Jr., Tony Gonzales, Erik Alejandro, Jay Salinas, Ceasar Jimenez, Juan Flores, Mark Herrera and Javi Flores.
