Alicia C. Rendon

Alicia Castillo Rendon, 68, of Uvalde died on Nov. 21, 2019, in San Antonio.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1951, in Uvalde to Jose Maria (Castillo) and Socorro Leal.

She married Ruben Antonio Rendon in Hondo on July 1, 1976. Together they had three children.

She was a teacher and counselor at Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District for over 25 years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, and woodworking.

She was a devoted Catholic and proud member of the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. According to the family, her charm and smile would brighten any given moment, just like her love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, of Uvalde; mother, of Uvalde: two sons, Ruben Antonio Rendon Jr. and wife, Brenda, and Jose Roberto “JoJo” Rendon, all of Corpus Christi; daughter, Teresa Angelica Rendon and husband, Chet “C.D.” Jones, of San Antonio; sister, Maria Elena Padilla, of San Antonio; brother, Roland Castillo and wife, Nora, of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Ruben Antonio Rendon III, Sebastian Alexander Rendon, Layla Socorro Rendon, Makai Antonio Jones, Cora Emma Jones and Marley Deion Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Frances Castillo.

The family described her as a devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation began Sunday at 2 p.m. A rosary was recited on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held yesterday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were Roberto Rendon Jr., Chris Estrada, Dennis Vela, Alberto Cruz, Marco Padilla, Robert Rendon, Richard Rendon Jr., David Rendon and Mario Cardona.
