The following was written by Debra Stifflemire, executive director of the Uvalde Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Uvalde will be joining hundreds of cities, states, and travel-related businesses nationwide next week in recognition of the 25th-annual National Tourism Week, set May 7-13.
Hotels and meeting facilities, attractions, restaurants and transportation providers are among the local businesses greatly impacted by travel to Uvalde.
In Uvalde, National Tourism Week celebrates the people who visit here, the workforce that provides service for them and the development created as a result. Our goal is to educate the community on all of the points of interest in our own backyard and emphasize the impact that tourism has on our local economy.
Local hotels/motels will participate by placing flyers in rooms inviting visitors to stop by the Uvalde visitors’ center and pick up visitor information and a surprise.
