A resident of Honduras is in critical condition at University Hospital in San Antonio after his unconscious form was spotted Monday by a Union Pacific Railroad operator. The man was prone between a pair of train tracks on Hacienda Road.
Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the location at approximately 4:50 p.m.
According to UCSO investigator Max Dorflinger, the operator of an east-bound train spotted the man.
“When we arrived on scene there was a male subject with head trauma laying between the two sets of tracks,” Dorflinger said. “That area has a siding where two trains can pass each other and he was almost touching the southern tracks.”
Dorflinger said the man was alive but unconscious. Uvalde MedAir-1 was dispatched to the scene and transported the man to San Antonio.
Dorflinger said the man was later identified as a Honduran national.
It isn’t clear whether the man, who investigators believe was on board a previous train, fell or jumped off a train.
