After conferring in closed session for two hours on Monday evening, the governing board of Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District approved a two-year contract extension and $165,000 salary for superintendent Hal Harrell.
This is Harrell’s first appraisal since becoming superintendent in November of 2018, when the board approved a three-year contract starting January of 2019, and $152,000 salary.
With this extension, Harrell’s contract is now valid through 2024.
“The superintendent and his team accomplished much for the district this year, including expanding opportunities for our students across the district (STEAM, fine arts, dual language, GT, etc.), continuing to enhance security in our schools, moving our district from an “F” to a “C” accountability rating, improvements to the FIRST Rating, and much more,” said board president Javier Flores in an email following the board’s unanimous vote.
