UCISD police chief resigns

Flores was hired in 2018

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District chief of police Leo Flores has resigned from his position, according to Superintendent Hal Harrell.

“The position for Uvalde CISD Chief of Police has been posted and the district is accepting applications. We have a great team of police officers and I am confident that they will continue to provide the excellent level of service to which our students, staff, and parents are accustomed,” Harrell said.

Flores was hired by school board members at a special noon meeting held on May 29, 2018, after being chosen from a pool of eight applicants for the position. At that same meeting, a starting salary amount of $68,364 was approved for the UCISD police chief position.

He led a campus police force consisting of Lt. Miguel “Mike” Hernandez and officers Ruben Ruiz and Cecilia Flores. All three officers were hired on July 2, 2018.
