While circulation of the Newspapers in Education program was temporarily suspended at Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, it is set to resume next week.
One of the informational items on the UCISD board agenda Monday was NIE. Local businesses and individuals are sponsors for the program, which places the Uvalde Leader-News in the classrooms for educational purposes.
Circulation was temporarily suspended recently due to concerns about how some sensitive stories might affect students.
Superintendent Jeanette Ball requested a survey be conducted in the schools obtaining information from teachers, counselors and principals on how the newspapers were being utilized and whether faculty felt it was a positive program.
ELAR specialists Blair Dorris and Julie Hipp conducted the survey, and Dorris presented their findings to the board.
