For the Spring 2019 administration of the STAAR exam, results released by the Texas Education Agency indicate that many Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District students are struggling to meet grade-level requirements in reading, math, writing and social studies.

The following information is based on the English version of the STAAR exam, and does not include end-of-course test results or May test scores.

The reading exam was administered to students in third through eighth grades. For third-graders, 258 students were tested of which 35 percent did not meet grade-level requirements.

Results for fourth-grade students indicate that 42 percent of the 311 students tested did not meet grade-level requirements, while 39 percent of the 332 fifth-grade students did not meet grade-level requirements.
