UCISD, colleges pave way for $10K engineering degree

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has joined forces with Southwest Texas Junior College and Angelo State University to bring an affordable option for a four-year degree to Uvalde students.

Under this new agreement, a student can obtain a degree in civil or mechanical engineering from ASU for $10,000.

UCISD Superintendent Hal Harrell, SWTJC president Hector Gonzales and ASU vice president Javier Flores signed the cooperative program agreement during a ceremony on Nov. 1.

According to UCISD, this agreement advances the district’s effort in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and is the only agreement of its kind in Texas.
