UCISD Ball challenges youth to read 30M words

Read 30 million words by June 1! That is the challenge issued to the entire community from Jeanette Ball, Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District superintendent, as part of the Tree City Readers initiative.

Tree City Readers held a literacy summit and national press conference Wednesday at the John H. Harrell Auditorium to unveil the Footsteps2Brilliance program recently introduced in the UCISD.

UCISD and the city of Uvalde have created the Tree City Readers initiative as part of a partnership with Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic students.
