Top Uvaldeans are lifelong volunteers

William A. Kessler Jr. has served the community of Uvalde in various capacities, including volunteering 43 years on the Uvalde Memorial Hospital board of directors. On Friday, that generosity earned him a standing ovation when his name was called as the Uvaldean of the Year during the 98th-annual Uvalde Area Chamber of Commerce banquet.

The event, which was held at the Uvalde County Fairplex, also celebrated Jimmy L. Hanson – who after 50 years of service to the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department – was named Volunteer of the Year.
