Three new principals for UCISD

Two elementary schools, Uvalde High changing leaders

Uvalde High School, Batesville School and Anthon Elementary will have new principals in the 2019-2020 school year. The announcement came the evening of Monday, May 6 at a special board meeting of the UCISD board of trustees.

All board members were present for the meeting.

After 37 minutes in closed session, the board reconvened and acted on employments and resignations for the upcoming school year.

The board named Miguel Castillo as principal for Uvalde High School. Castillo is joining the district from Horizon Montessori Public School in McAllen, where he served as principal.

Castillo will be replacing Elizabeth Sandoval who started with the district in 2000. According to Anne Marie Espinoza, executive director of communications and marketing for UCISD, Sandoval will remain in the district.
