Third time is no charm for UCISD payment to UCAD

Third time is no charm as the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District board of trustees rejected payment of $25,512 to the Uvalde County Appraisal District (UCAD) during a special meeting Thursday night.

The “point of contention” is whether UCISD is obligated by any statue or agreement to pay UCAD $25,512. UCAD was strapped with an $81,000 tab resulting from a counter lawsuit filed against the appraisal district by Concan residents Kenny and Barbara Arthur.

The Arthur’s had an agreement with former UCAD Chief Appraiser Albert Mirelez concerning the values on certain parcels of property.

Albert Walker, the collection attorney for UCAD, filed a delinquent tax case against Barbara Arthur, individually and as Independent Executrix of the Estate of Kenneth W. Arthur, who subsequently filed a counter suit for breach of agreement.
