SA Food Bank returning Saturday

The San Antonio Food Bank will be returning to Uvalde for another mobile food fair on Saturday, with food distribution beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Uvalde County Fairplex.

Tru Hiatt with the Uvalde Food Pantry said the event will be similar to the mobile food fair held in April with no more than two allotments per vehicle, and volunteers will gather information from people while they are waiting in line in their vehicles.

The distribution is intended to assist Uvalde County residents, and participants are asked to bring identification.

Uvalde County includes Knippa, Concan, Sabinal, Utopia, Uvalde and outlying areas. The previous distribution held at the Willie De Leon Civic Center on April 11 served 537 families, and each distribution consisted of more than 50 pounds of food. At that event Uvalde Food Pantry representatives brought bread products from local stores to add to the food trucked in from San Antonio.

The event was changed to the Uvalde County Fairplex due to traffic concerns.

Call the food bank Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 210-431-8326 or visit their website at www.safoodbank.org for more information.
