What happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas, but news of Los Palominos’ Latin Grammy award win on Thursday made it to Uvalde within minutes. The band received the award for for Best Norteño Album for their latest release “Piensalo.”

The band – made up of Arreola brothers Johnny, James, Julio, Jorge and Jimmy – departed Wednesday for the 18th-annual Latin Grammy Awards, which were held Thursday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event was broadcast on Univision.

Hit singles from the album include “Me Muero,” “Cuando te Enamoras,” “Tuyo Quiero Ser” and the title track “Piensalo.”

“We hadn’t been nominated since 2007, the last Grammy we won,” said Johnny Arreola. “Since then we joined Freddy Records, our new record label, and this is our first album with them.”
