An hour to digest news of a plan to transport migrants released from detention from Uvalde to San Antonio did little on Monday to quell the fears of concerned citizens.

Nearly 60 individuals were present in council chambers at city hall at noon when city council approved a preliminary agreement with Southwest Area Regional Transit District – which proposed a charge of $277 per 19-person bus for the 90-mile trip.

The meeting was preceded by a 10 a.m. session of Uvalde County Commissioners, during which the court approved the same agreement.

The plan allocates up to $10,000 over the next 30 days with the city and county each responsible for one trip per day.
