Two new 2018 Ford Fusions will soon be coming to the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District police force thanks to approval of a $36,403 outlay.

UCISD trustees, meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Benson board room, agreed to the purchases from Griffith Ford Fleet Services in Uvalde.

The district now has four officers for its police force – Chief Leo Flores and Lt. Mike Hernandez, who will have offices at Uvalde High School; Officer Ruben Ruiz, whose office will be located at Flores Elementary; and Officer Cecilia Flores, whose office will be at Morales Junior High. Two district vehicles were already at the department’s disposal.

District officials compared eight quotes for sedans or SUVs from various local dealerships and other sources of vehicles throughout the state. Older models were considered.
