Texas National Night Out events are planned in Uvalde and Sabinal. The purpose of the events are to foster crime prevention by promoting communication between community members and local law enforcement agencies.

The events are scheduled Tuesday between 6-8 p.m. The Uvalde Police Department will participate in events at the H-E-B store parking lot, 201 E. Main St., and El Progreso Memorial Library, 301 W. Main St.

UPD Sgt. Donald Page said that although residents are encouraged to attend the festivities, they can also organize gatherings in their own neighborhoods. Anyone organizing a block party can contact Page at 830-278-9147 to arrange a visit.

“This event provides an opportunity for community members to meet first responders, ask them questions or voice concerns,” said UPD Lt. Javier Martinez. H-E-B employees will serve hot dogs and cold beverages to children in attendance.
