El Progresso Memorial Library is selling prize drawing tickets for a chance to win $10,000.
This latest fundraiser, themed “Pot of Gold,” aims to raise money for the library’s operating budget. The goal is to sell 400 tickets at $100 each.
If all the tickets are sold, after dolling out the winnings, the library would gain $30,000.
Library representatives started selling tickets in June, and according to library director Mendell Morgan, they’ve sold more than $20,000 worth of tickets.
There are second and third prizes as well, with second prize being a Green Egg cooker donated by Uvalco, and third prize being a designer mohair coat donated by Dolores Vernor of Camp Wood.
To purchase a ticket, Morgan recommends going to the library’s main desk. He said community members can also reach out to him directly at 210-355-8562.
Individuals may also purchase tickets from designated sellers who are volunteering for the fundraiser.
Community members who are selling tickets include Shirley Grigg, Vickie Weisinger, Laura Downing, Becky Capt, Amy Carnes, Virginia Davis, Barbara Blair, Ann Fleming, Kathy Voss, Chuck and Carolyn Bevis, Michael Robinson, Olga Charles, Devan Caballero, Susan Anderson, and Vickie Johnson.
The prize drawing is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., in conjunction with Four Square Friday, at the Uvalde Opera House.
Individuals do not have to be present to win.
