Hometown heroes come in all forms

From elderly residents on fixed incomes to children with no more than a piggy bank to their name, Uvaldeans have come together to ensure Hurricane Harvey evacuees are at home in Tree City.

On Friday, the city of Uvalde opened the Willie De Leon Civic Center for evacuees. The group of roughly 200 individuals stayed until yesterday morning when they were relocated to the Getty Street Church of Christ.
