Hanson retiring after 50 years of firefighting

After more than 50 years with the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department, veteran firefighter Jimmy Hanson is hanging up his gear for retirement. Although he will remain active with the department as an honorary member, he will no longer be dispatched for emergency calls.

“I have enjoyed every bit of it. I have a lot of brothers within the department. You know it is… it is hard to describe what it means to me. You go and do something that is good. It makes you feel,” Hanson said of his time with the department.
