Five arrested Sunday night
Four men and one juvenile were arrested Sunday night after an incident that started on Brazos Street led to a fugitive carrying a stolen gun running through the backyards of North Getty Street homes.
Esteban Xavier Flores, 19, of Uvalde was apprehended after a pursuing Uvalde Police Department officer called ahead to three men gathered in a yard to stop Flores, who had discarded a bag containing the weapon and drugs during the pursuit.
The trio was able to halt Flores, and the officer took custody of him at 513 N. High St.
The incident began a little after 8 p.m. when a woman called UPD and stated her husband and son were being threatened with a firearm at her residence.
When officers arrived at 516 E. Brazos St. at approximately 8:14 p.m., suspects had already fled, but the complainant identified one suspect. A neighbor’s camera also caught footage of a silver Buick fleeing the scene, according to UPD public information officer Jessica Zamora.
The vehicle fled south on Milam Street toward Getty Street. An officer intercepted the Buick and performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Anglin and North Getty streets.
At that point Flores fled, and officers chased him through several city streets, Zamora said. A black bag containing the stolen gun and various drugs, including marijuana and mushrooms, was discovered at 535 N. Getty St.
Flores was arrested on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon, theft of a firearm reported stolen in San Antonio, evading arrest, and possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana.
He was also charged with three other counts of possession, one for between 1 and 4 grams, and another for between 4 and 400 grams of controlled substances in Penalty Group 2, and possessing less than 28 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 3.
Isaiah Tomas Castillo, 19, and Enrique Leija, 18, both of Uvalde, and Jorge Luciano Jimenez, 17, of San Antonio were each charged with possessing between 1 and 4 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2, and with possessing between 4 and 400 grams of another controlled substance in Penalty Group 2.
An unidentified minor was also apprehended.
