Grissom’s steers are grandest of them all

Meghann Garcia

Baylee Grissom brought two show-stealing steers to the ring Friday during the second day of the Uvalde County Junior Livestock Show. The home-schooled sixth-grader presented the grand champion steer last year, but she doubled her success this year by showing the grand champion and reserve grand champion.

Grissom’s winning exhibits were both heavyweight exotics, with the grand champion weighing 1,410 pounds and the reserve grand champion weighing 1,350 pounds.

Other big winners in the steer show, held Friday at the Uvalde County Arena at the Fairplex, included Trace Bowman, Tucker Allen, Dallas Hesse and Kannen Rihn.
