Firecracker Fest at the Uvalde County Fairplex is scheduled July 4 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. The event will run in conjunction with a 9 p.m. fireworks display hosted by the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department.
Events include a co-ed six-person volleyball tournament, family fun-run, craft show, Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageant and bull-riding competition. Water slides and food vendors will also be available.
Uvaldean Andrew Rios is organizing the 1-mile fun-run, which will take place on the Fairplex property. Additional details will be provided in a future edition of the Uvalde Leader-News.
Registration for the volleyball tournament will take place at 9 a.m. that day. The first match is at 10 a.m. Event shirts will be given to the first-, second- and third-place finishers. The registration fee is $75 per team. All proceeds go toward the 2019 fireworks display. To pre-register, call the Fairplex at 830-591-9040.
Ten-by-ten craft show and food vendor booths may set up at 8 a.m. that day. Cost to rent booth space is $25 for an outdoor space and $35 for space inside the Uvalde County Event Center. To register, call the Fairplex at 830-591-9040.
The public may view the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageant show for free at 2 p.m. Registration is underway and costs $10. On-site registration will cost $15. To register, stop by the Fairplex. Divisions consist of children of walking age to 2 years old, and 3-5 years old. Participants must check-in at 10 a.m. that day.
Participants must sport a beachwear outfit and Fourth of July themed outfit. Participation trophies will be distributed to all contestants. Grand trophies will be awarded to the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker for each division.
