Drugs may be murder motive

Suspect was arrested for armed robbery

Brando Briseño, 25, of Uvalde was charged Friday with capital murder after allegedly stabbing Francisco Javier Puente Jr., 35, also of  Uvalde.

Puente was found dead Sept. 25 in his West Cargile Street apartment, where Uvalde Police say he sold drugs. UPD Lt. Mariano Pargas said drugs are a possible motive for Puente’s death.

According to police, Puente was stabbed in the chest, back and leg with a box cutter.

Police believe Puente’s cell phone was taken from the home at the time of his assault, leaving him unable to call for help.
