Uvalde County Commissioners on Monday announced the appointment of Lloyd “Dee” Kirkpatrick of Uvalde to serve as road administrator.

The position was left vacant in December of last year when former road administrator Jesse Garcia announced plans to retire. Garcia had served as the road administrator for 11 years.

Ten applicants applied for the position, including Kirkpatrick, a Uvalde High School graduate who also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Angelo State University in San Angelo.

Kirkpatrick was previously employed with the Texas Animal Health Commission in Laredo as an inspector. Before that, from December of 2010 until August of 2015, he worked as a project manager/supervisor/superintendent for American Disposal Services in Sealy.
