The Fall on the Frio Barbecue cook-off event held Oct. 4-5 in Concan raised $14,770, which was donated to the Gear Up for Game Wardens program.

The funds will be used to purchase cell phone boosters for the entire district, which includes Real, Edwards, Kinney, Uvalde, Zavala, Dimmit and Maverick counties.

On hand to accept the donation were Uvalde County game wardens Dennis Gazaway Jr., Rachel Kellner and Henry Lutz, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department captain Shea Guinn.

They were joined by game warden Eugene Fernandez of Dimmit County; Blake Satterfield, Edwards County; Mark Perez, Kinney County; Welden Rappmund, Maverick County; Clint Graham, Real County; and Chris Stautzenberger of Zavala County.
