City raising rates for water, gas and garbage

Uvalde City Council members approved hikes in base and use fees for water, natural gas and garbage services in an effort to boost city revenue.

Residential water will now have a base charge of $14.57 (up $1.90) per a three-quarter-inch meter and $18.73 (up $2.44) per 1-inch meter. The previous cost was $12.67 and $16.29, respectively.

Residential consumers will now be charged $1.48 (up 19 cents) per 1,000 gallons used. The previous cost was $1.29 per 1,000 gallons.
