Forty-one-year-old Sovana Patricia Trapp was arrested Sunday on charges of injury to a child after she allegedly bit a 16-month-old child 12 times while caring for him in her Nopal Street apartment.
Trapp says she bit the child once on the arm and it was in a playful manner.
“I did not intentionally hurt him,” Trapp said Wednesday morning through tears. “It was in a playful manner, but then he cried out. I put a cold compress on him right away.”
When asked about the additional injuries the child exhibited, Trapp said she did not bite the child more than once, though she said he sustained an injury while in the bath tub.
According to Trapp, the child reached for her and slipped, causing a razor blade to fall from a soap dish. She said the blade landed on his ankle and cut his foot.
