UHS theater showcase set tomorrow

The following information was submitted by Andre Cruz, who recently portrayed George Bailey in the Janey Slaughter Briscoe Grand Opera House’s three-performance run of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.”

The Uvalde High School theater department will present the second-annual, winter showcase tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the John H. Harrell Auditorium on the UHS campus.

“The showcase is a chance to get as many students involved and give them the experience of performing on stage as a preparation for University Interscholastic League theater competition in the spring,” said director Christela Mendoza, UHS theater teacher.

The showcase consists of three separate performances of five-, 10-, and 15-minute durations. The first play entitled, “Something Profound,” by Emily Hageman, is about a playwright that has an idea for a 10-minute play.
