UCISD students will present ‘Godspell’ today, tomorrow

Tickets are      $1 to $5 each

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Summer Fine Arts Academy’s 80-person cast will present “Godspell” with an opening performance today at 6 p.m. in the John H. Harrell Auditorium at Uvalde High School.

The encore performance will be tomorrow, also at 6 pm.

Admission is $5 for anyone 13 and older and $1 for those who are younger than 13.

This production is the culmination of a month long rehearsal by students who took advantage of the summer program. Dress rehearsals were conducted Monday and Tuesday.

“Godspell” is based on parables from the Book of Matthew and originally adapted and produced for the New York stage by Edgar Lansbury, Stuart Duncan and Joseph Beruh.

Linda Adami is the artistic director and production manager for the local production. She is employed by the UCISD on a consulting basis. Adami, a UHS graduate, has extensive experience as a fine arts instructor at Southwest Independent School District.

Graciela Reyna is the director and Alexandria Sepulveda is stage manager. Frank Burton is in charge of lighting.
