Recognition of a job well done is an accolade worth striving for, and Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has been acknowledging those employees earning this hallmark on a monthly basis since 2014.
District employees can be nominated for the UCISD employee of the month award by students, parents, peers, supervisors and community members. Nominations are filed online, and a selection committee composed of senior staff reviews the nominations monthly.
Nominees are graded according to a set of criteria and the points earned are tallied for an overall score.
The highest-scoring nominee is considered for the award, given no pending disciplinary action.
Nomination criteria includes why the employee deserves to be UCISD employee of the month, the commitment level demonstrated, observations on work performance, and personal traits.
For the 2018-2019 school year, 10 UCISD employees were recognized for their achievements.
Employee of the month honors for June were awarded to Uvalde High School history teacher Antonio Villarreal. Villarreal, a 12-year veteran of UCISD, was lauded by Superintendent Hal Harrell for his dedication and commitment to the district.
“As a teacher, Mr. Villarreal serves the students of Uvalde High School during the day, before school, after school, on Saturday’s and during the summer,” Harrell said.
