Although retired U.S. Army Colonel Jose M. Ramos acknowledged all who have served in the military during a Friday Veterans Day ceremony, Ramos emphasized Vietnam veterans, who he said were not celebrated when they first returned home from war.

The annual observance, organized by American Legion Post 26 and the Ladies Auxiliary Unit, featured performances by the Navy Junior Reserves Officers Training Corps and Morales Junior High choir. Lesley Jones, representing the Uvalde de las Encinas Chapter of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, recited the pledge of allegiance. The group was also handing out pins and hats for veterans.

Two Vietnam combat vehicles were on display.
