Young artists with an interest in electrical safety may enter Rio Grande Electric Cooperative’s poster contest now through April 13.
The contest is open to students in first through sixth grades, with one division encompassing first- through third-graders and the other fourth- through sixth-graders. All students are eligible to participate.
Students should design a 1/2 sheet of white poster board. The artwork should be the student’s original work and not draw/colored by parents. Students may not used computer-generated graphics, magazine clippings, cotton or beads on the poster.
Each student who enters the contest will receive a certificate of participation, while the top poster in both divisions will receive a $50 gift card.
Last year, then-fourth-grader Gabrielle Leos of Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District’s Robb Elementary won first place in the fourth- through sixth-grade division.
The winners’ artwork will be incorporated into the book cover design the co-op provides to schools within its service territory, which includes the counties of Uvalde, Zavala, Kinney, Maverick, Val Verde, Edwards and a dozen others.
To participate, school personnel should contact email@example.com, or call 800-749-1509, ext. 1106.
