In what has been dubbed the largest Olympic weightlifting competition in history, Tressa Reading, a junior at Knippa High School, earned sixth place in her age and weight division at the 2018 American Open Series 3 held Sept. 13-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As of Aug. 16, 1,651 athletes were registered for the competition put on by USA Weightlifting.

Reading performed two types of lifts in the competition – the snatch and the clean-and-jerk – for a combined lift of 315 pounds. She is classed in the women’s youth, 64-kilogram (140-pound) category, within which there were 14 other women from across the country competing at the same event.
