Lions Club seeking children for summer camp scholarships

Charley Robinson

Staff writer

Uvalde Lions Club is on a mission to encourage and inform parents of special needs children to take advantage of a summer camp program.

Each summer, the Texas Lions Camp at Kerrville hosts hundreds of children with disabilities during nine one-week sessions. Parents do not incur a fee for the camp, and children are provided transportation to and from Kerrville by Lions Clubs.

Uvalde-area parents who prefer to transport their own children will be reimbursed by the Uvalde Lions Club .

The primary purpose of the program is to provide a free camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired, and diabetic children from Texas, regardless of race, religion, or national origin.
