Local artists Connie Armbruster, Delores West, and Bea Ybarra were recently named winners in the Del Rio Art League Annual Judged Art Show.

West was named first and Best in Show for her art piece titled, “Chickens Tenors.” Armbruster’s “Reflections of Solitude” was named second and People’s Choice, and Ybarra’s pastel “Innocence” won second as well.

“We enter every competition we get a chance to enter,” Armbruster said. “We’ve been doing this for quite a few years.”

Though the women have been participating in art shows for years, they agreed that Del Rio had a lot of entries.

“The walls were full of entries in Del Rio. It wasn’t just paintings, it was oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, everything,” West said. “It was a big show.”

The show was held the first Friday in May at the Firehouse Gallery in Del Rio. Entries were judged by artist David Forks, who looked at the several oil paintings submitted each by Armbruster, West, and Ybarra.
