Community tamalada set Dec. 14

The 12th-annual Tamalada will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Willie De Leon Civic Center from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is hosted annually by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District and sponsored by First State Bank of Uvalde to bring together the Uvalde community for a free tamale dinner, student performances, and little holiday shopping.

Each year, volunteers make thousands of tamales of several varieties. At service time, various student groups, teachers and administrators, lend a hand, whether it’s helping with serving the meal, welcoming the community, or helping elderly visitors find a seat.
